Message from Senator Rasha Kelej on announcing 6 Awards for Mauritius, Madagascar and Seychelles at the Merck Foundation Health Media Training

We announced two media recognition awards for the media fraternity from Mauritius, Madagascar, and Seychelles, Merck Foundation Media Recognition Awards  “More Than a Mother” 2021 and Merck Foundation “Mask Up With Care” Media Recognition Awards 2021; two awards for the fashion fraternity of these countries, Merck Foundation Fashion Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021 and Merck Foundation “Make Your Own Mask” Fashion Awards 2021; in addition to Merck Foundation Film Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021 and Merck Foundation Song Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021 during the Merck Foundation Health Media Training that was held via zoom particularly for Mauritius, Madagascar ad Seychelles in partnership with Media Trust Board, Mauritius.

Not only media but Art, Fashion, Film and Music also have the capacity to raise awareness, which further stimulates emotions and eventually leads to influential actions. We have collaborated with Media Trust Board, Mauritius; Fashion Design Institute, Mauritius; and Mauritius Film Development Corporation to launch our Awards for Media, Fashion and Film fraternities respectively. Additionally, we have similar theme-based awards for Music enthusiasts. The aim of these awards is to emphasize the role of Media and Art in enhancing the public engagements for the understanding of these sensitive topics with the need to change its social perception in our communities.

1. Merck Foundation Africa Media Recognition Awards “More Than a Mother” in partnership with Media Trust Board, Mauritius: Media representatives are invited to showcase their work to raise awareness about Infertility Prevention, Breaking Infertility stigma, and Empowering Girls and Women through Education.

 2. Merck Foundation Film Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021 in partnership with Mauritius Film Development Corporation: All African Filmmakers and Students are invited to create and share a FILM or a DOCUDRAMA to deliver strong and influential messages to break Infertility stigma, and /or Empowering Girls and Women through Education and at all levels.

3. Merck Foundation Fashion Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021 in partnership with Fashion Design Institute, Mauritius: All African Fashion Students and Designers are invited to create and share designs to deliver strong and influential messages to raise awareness about Infertility Prevention, Breaking Infertility stigma, and/or Empowering Girls and Women through Education.

4. Merck Foundation Song Awards “More Than a Mother” 2021: All African Singers and Musical Artists are invited to create and share a SONG with the aim to Empower Girls and Women through Education and at all levels.

5. Merck Foundation “Mask Up With Care” Media Recognition Awards 2021 in partnership with Media Trust Board, Mauritius: Media representatives are invited to showcase their work to raise awareness on how to adapt best protection measures such as wearing masks to show care and love towards family & community; to encourage your community to choose to vaccinate when it is available and to sensitize them to support healthcare workers who are at the forefront of COVID 19 pandemic.

6. Merck Foundation “Make Your Own Mask” Fashion Awards 2021 in partnership with Fashion Design Institute, Mauritius: All African Fashion Designers and Students are invited to create and share designs of masks and other clothing items that carry messages to encourage people to wear masks to show they care and at the same time make it creative and fun!
