Message from Senator Rasha Kelej on the Annual Summit 2021 conducted with the Burundi First Lady

I am happy to share that the Merck Foundation Burundi Annual Summit 2021 was held successfully together with my dear sister H.E. Mrs. ANGELINE NDAYISHIMIYE, The First Lady of Burundi and Ambassador of Merck Foundation More Than a Mother. At our First Annual Summit, we discussed our joint programs to transform the patient care landscape in Burundi via building healthcare capacity and raising awareness about breaking infertility stigma, and support girl education.

I am very proud to meet the 40 Merck Foundation’s Alumni in Burundi and discuss their impact on improving the quality of healthcare in the country after receiving specialized medical scholarships provided by Merck Foundation. Moreover, celebrating 14 winners of the Merck Foundation Media Recognition Awards and discussing their work as champions of raising awareness about infertility stigma, supporting girl education, and raising awareness about the ongoing COVID-19 crisis

This is a very high number in a very short time, I am proud of all of you, keep up the good work.

Furthermore, we are looking forward to creating a strong medical army in Burundi with our partnership with the Burundi First Lady and Ministry of Health.

In partnership with the Burundi First Lady, we have announced 6 new awards for Media, Fashion, Film, and Music fraternity in the country. I look forward to receiving your entries for the Merck Foundation 2021 Awards.
