A welcoming message from Dr. Rasha Kelej on the appointment of the New First Lady of Burundi, H.E. ANGELINE NDAYISHIMIYE, as the Ambassador of Merck More Than a Mother

I am proud to share with you the video from the meeting with the new First Lady of Burundi, H.E. ANGELINE NDAYISHIMIYE last month to appoint her as Ambassador of “Merck More Than A Mother” to work together to empower infertile women in Burundi, through access to information, health and change of mindset.

We have discussed our long-term collaboration and partnership with her Foundation, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education to continue our efforts to build healthcare capacity, provide specialty training to more doctors and empower girls through education. More than 31 doctors from Burundi have been enrolled in our training programs. Merck Foundation will continue their important program “Educating Linda” together with Burundi First Lady to sponsor the education of 20 best performing girls in their secondary schools till they graduate.

Moreover, Merck Foundation celebrated three winners from Burundi for their “Stay at Home” Media Recognition Awards from Southern African Countries to raise awareness about COVID 19 in the country.

Stay tuned to know more about the launch of our partnership…

Thank you, Madam First Lady, my dear sister, for the visit and for this valuable meeting.

Kind regards,
Dr. Rasha Kelej,
CEO of Merck Foundation
President of Merck More Than A Mother
Most Influential Africans ( 2019 & 2020 )
