{"id":9973,"date":"2026-08-26T15:23:03","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T11:23:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rasha-kelej.com\/?p=9973"},"modified":"2026-08-26T15:23:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T11:23:22","slug":"success-attracts-both-admiration-and-resistance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rasha-kelej.com\/?p=9973","title":{"rendered":"Success Attracts Both Admiration and Resistance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Leadership Cost of Becoming Visible<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, people\u2014colleagues, partners, and members of the media\u2014have sometimes asked me how to deal with envy and jealousy in the workplace and, more importantly, how to deal with it peacefully without allowing it to consume their energy, distract them from their purpose, or change the way they lead.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My answer has become simpler with experience:&nbsp;<strong>accept that success attracts both admiration and resistance.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Great achievements naturally attract attention. And sometimes, the brighter the success, the louder the voices of envy and negativity around it.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have learned that you cannot control how everyone responds to your success. You can, however, control how you respond to them.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, the answer is not confrontation. It is to remain focused, continue working hard, protect your integrity, and make sure that your work and your processes can withstand scrutiny.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I believe this is one of the realities of leadership that we do not discuss enough.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you are building something, few people notice. When you begin succeeding, more people notice. And when your success becomes visible, recognized, and difficult to ignore, you attract both admiration and resistance.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This does not mean that every criticism comes from envy. Constructive criticism is valuable, and strong leaders should always have the humility to listen, reflect, and correct themselves when necessary.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is a difference between criticism that wants you to become better and negativity that simply wants to make you smaller.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is where integrity and hard work become your strongest protection.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As leaders, we cannot control what people say about us, what they assume, or what motives may sit behind their criticism. But we can control how we work and the impact of our work.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When your decisions are guided by integrity, your compliance processes are strong, your governance is clear, your work is transparent and properly documented, and you apply the same standards of quality consistently, you leave very little space for anyone to legitimately undermine your work.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, this is one of the greatest forms of leadership security: do things correctly when nobody is questioning you, so you have nothing to fear when somebody eventually does<strong>.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><\/strong><em><strong>As Henry Ford is widely quoted as saying, \u201cQuality means doing it right when no one is looking.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, I have learned not to spend too much energy trying to convince those who have already decided to diminish an achievement. I prefer to let the hard work, the facts, the processes, the results, and the impact speak.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because meaningful work built on integrity cannot be overshadowed forever by noise.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The stronger your purpose and the stronger your foundations, the less distracted you become by resistance. You continue working. You continue improving. You continue creating impact.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps resistance is sometimes simply part of the price of becoming successful and visible.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So when success attracts admiration, appreciate it.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it attracts constructive criticism, learn from it.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When it attracts legitimate questions, answer them with transparency and facts.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when it attracts envy and negativity, do not allow it to distract you, never lose your direction , purpose or vision.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Keep your integrity. Keep your standards high. Keep creating impact. Ultimately, your work\u2014and the way you conduct it\u2014should be your strongest answer.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This is how you build a legacy .<\/strong><\/p><p
